on our mind...

Non-toxic mani pedis we love

Getting your nails done is the best! But we've noticed over the years that many popular polishes are actually quite toxic. So we are always on the lookout for less toxic options for our manis and pedis. Here's a selection of the best (in our opinion) eco-friendly L.A. nail salons.  All of these salons have great eco-friendly services and nontoxic “3-free” and “5-free” nail polishes. When it comes to nails, the first three polish ingredients to get called out as toxic are dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene, and formaldehyde; the next two are formaldehyde resin and camphor. We think it’s best to avoid all five.   If you budget by doing your own nails you're not the only one, we have some polish suggestions you can find easily online too.

Located in Brentwood, Cote Shop produces their own 109-shade line of five-free nail polishes, as well as nail treatments and home and body products. The vibe of the salon is laid back, luxurious and beachy.  There are five indoor stations and six outdoor, and you can book online. They even have iPads at each station to entertain without smudges. The luxe pedicure with hot stone massage is epic, trust us! If you’re in the mood to shop after your service, you can pick up some of their exclusive home and body products on your way out.

Prices: Polishes, $16; manicures, $20-$35; pedicures, $26-$45. They also offer petite services for kids: manicures, $12; pedicures, $16.
